This weeks new theme is YOUTH!
Most of the youth of today will see a change in a few weeks because they will have to start back to school again, which I think most of them feel will never end. Which is funny because when one thinks about it, does school ever really end? Do we not go through life learning something everyday?
And what exactly is "youth"?
What is young to one person might be old to another. For me it seems as if everyone under the age of 30 is a child. I also realize that to people older than I am that I might seem young. Everything is relative to your own perspective.
I look at my beautiful grand babies here and I see the future youth of the world and I have great hopes for a future of peace and a better life than we have. Will it come true, I do not know but the one thing I do know is that it is not up to the governments of the world to make it happen, but it is up to each of us to teach our youth of today to be independent enough to love all of the people of the world, even if they have different beliefs than we have.
Isn't it our job to teach them that they are not entitled to have everything given to them just because they want it, or think it is their right to take it from someone else who earned it. We need to teach them to go forth and get their own education to become the person that contributes to earning their own way in life, but at the same time we need to teach them to help the truly needy. Somehow I just cannot think of drug addicts and alcoholics as the truly needy but I do think of their children who are stuck living with them as needy. And having first hand experience with that lifestyle I can say that these children are usually forgotten and can be saved.
Children need to be helped all year round, not just during these holidays. Find a child that needs help and when that child's birthday comes each year surprise the child with a gift to celebrate that child's birth. Sometimes just letting a child know that you care that they exist will help them more than you can know. And if you choose to skip one cup of coffee each month to donate toward a scholarship fund for a needy youth then you are one special person.
A child in need is a child to help indeed.
The youth of today is our future for a better tomorrow.
