This weeks new theme is CEMENT!
We live in a cement jungle.
We are surrounded by cement.
Have you ever really looked at how much we depend upon cement in our lives.
We have cement driveways, bridges, fences, buildings, furniture, bathtubs, so many things made by cement.
Cement is also a "verb".
My house sits on a cement slab with all the pipes in the ground underneath it. Did you know that if those pipes burst then your insurance does not cover it? The insurance company says it falls under the category of normal homeowners maintenance and the homeowner should maintain it. My question is, "How the hell do they think the homeowner is supposed to get under that big cement slab upon which their home sits and maintain those pipes, especially when they have no idea where those pipes are actually located?". And now with the leak we also have a sinkhole under the house that we are also responsible to fix. I think the funny thing is that if the sinkhole gets big enough and falls into the sinkhole then they will have to pay to fix it all. This makes no sense and as more and more cement slab houses get older then there will be more and more problems like this. Very big sigh!!!
And so cement can be a great foundation but it can also be a great barrier. There are so many great things about cement but also many bad things about it. Also there are different grades of cement and if something is not made with the correct grade then it is possible that people can get hurt. Such as falling into a sinkhole. But then again cement bunkers have saved many lives during wars.
What do you think of cement? What do you know about cement? How does cement effect your life?
Please come back on Thursday and play with us by cementing a post for us to see.
Comments between players are fun and part of the game.
Mr. Linky will be added after Wednesday evening, 9 pm PST.
