Theme Thursday for May 23, 2013 - TRUST

TRUST

This weeks new theme is TRUST!

Do you trust me?
Can you trust me?
Will you trust me?

Can I trust you?
Do I trust you?
Will I trust you?

I think these are sometimes some of the most important questions we can ask of others, especially those we do not know.
Do we always know the answer?  Probably not because trust is something that usually takes a long time to build up between anyone.

But sometimes we trust in an entity because we have been taught that this is what we are supposed to do.  We are supposed to trust our teachers, but lately we have found that there are a few bad apples and so we still trust that the majority of them are trustworthy.  We trust our firemen to arrive when there is a fire or an ambulance to come for an emergency.  But sometimes some people have found out that no one comes because they do not pay for these services or no one covers their area.  We expect the police to come if some type of crime is occurring or has occurred but we cannot know if they will come in time due to so many crimes being committed in some areas.  We know they cannot be everywhere but we trust them to be there for us.  We trust that when we drive over a bridge that it will hold up, yup some people have found that to not be true.  But basically we all still trust those we think we are supposed to trust.

Especially in our government.  Well after this week, I think many of us are wondering who we can trust in our government here in the U.S.  I guess we are learning what so many others in their countries have learned.  That governments all over the world cannot truly be trusted.  And once that trust is lost between their people and their government, it is going to take many years for it to be earned back.  Just ask all the cheating spouses in the world.  Most of them are never truly trusted again.  But then again look how many cheating spouses work in the government.  No bad comments about this one please, you know they seem to be hanging around political offices all the time.

So how do you feel about trust?
Do you trust someone until they lose your trust or do you trust them after they have earned your trust?
And once someone loses your trust, how long does it take for them to earn it back, if ever?
I guess you could say that there are a lot of trust issues that surround us in our lives.
I hope you will come back on Thursday and let us know about how you feel about trust.

Thanks again,
Mrsupole

    1. It is kind of weird how it seems to be working out that way even though I am not consciously doing it, but it is nice that it is working out that way as I am enjoying your stories.

      God bless.

    2. I am not sure why the link is not working other than to say that it takes you to the "back of the menu" blog site but then it says there are no posts at that site. I did find where your limerick and have corrected your link, hope it works.

  3. Trust is a difficult one, because no one is trustworthy 100% of the time. However, there are common boundaries and important civil rules to apply. Obviously trusting your spouse not to cheat is a given. So if your spouse cheats, well, trust is out the window.

Government should never be trusted, especially where career politicians are involved. Government is an entity for the people, not an oppression of the people. It is not an entitlement machine, nor an act of charity. It is a group of people helping to maintain basic rights for all people, not create and dole out new ones as it sees fit for some people. I could go on. Suffice to say, I trust the Constitution and these days, I don't trust my government to interpret it the way it was intended.

    1. Yes, trust is a difficult one because it usually has to be earned but we do sometimes give a temporary trust and you are correct, no one can be trustworthy 100% of the time. And I think when a spouse cheats they never can be trusted again.

Government sucks in the trust department anywhere money or power is concerned and career politicians are the absolute worst. The government is supposed to work for us but somehow due to all the taxes we have become government slaves. Sadly, at least here in the U.S. one party, possibly both parties, give out entitlements in exchange for votes. And people do believe the government is a charity. Just look at what happens every time there is a disaster, the people want the government to pay to fix everything. They feel entitled to the money. Honestly it should be the insurance companies that pay. Why should the rest of the country pay because these people insist upon living in an area where they know there is going to be a disaster. The founding fathers never meant for about 90% or more of our tax money to be spent the way it is nowadays. Actually they never meant for us to be taxed as much or for as much as we are. I think they have turned over in their graves and covered their ears, closed their eyes tight and are gritting their teeth so that they do not have to look at what our governments are doing. The whole point about the Revolution was about us being overtaxed and not represented. I guess I could go on and on too. I think we should just have one Flat Tax and everyone pays the same. No loopholes, no deductions, just the same amount paid for every dollar earned by everyone. 15% paid on every dollar earned no matter how that dollar was earned or who earned it. No IRS to deal with except that they make sure our employers are collecting the right amount for everyone. And lets get rid of them for handling Obamacare, because who knows who they will target for punishment with that one. I totally agree with your last line. I have little trust in our government or the people who run it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

      God bless.

  4. "Trust" indeed is a luxury in this era. We have a hard time trusting others, but the same implies to us also. Can the other person trust us?This is my take on trust. Thankyou...

    1. Trust is definitely a luxury that sometimes cost a lot and truly is a two way street. Plus how can we expect someone to trust us when we don't even trust ourselves. I'll bet your take on trust is good.

    1. I look forward to your poem. Putting our trust in God is the most wonderful thing we can do and trust in a relationship is fantastic until it is broken, and once that happens then it is very hard to fix.

      God bless.

    1. I know we have never been the same since. I always remember him giving the peace sign. And you think we would have learned that there should just be one term for every political office and then they have to take two years off before they can run for another office. This way they are working and not worrying about being reelected to the same office or to a new office. I do not think it is right for someone to be elected and to spend most of their time campaigning to be reelected either to the same position or to another office. It is as if we are paying the person to campaign instead of to actually work.

I guess we did not learn enough from Watergate.

      God bless.

I am slowly getting to you all. Still fighting this migraine and have that sleeping all day condition again. I just cannot stay awake much more than an hour or so and then I pass out, as I am about to now.
